The Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery (LAMAG) was established in 1954 under the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Los Angeles. The video collection includes artworks that were exhibited at LAMAG, and documentaries screened as part of the programming, and documentation of performances, events, exhibitions. Videotapes in the collection are primarily from the 1980s, and represent a diverse body of programming focused on multiple communities within Los Angeles. Some of the artists whose works are present in the collection include Wendy Clarke, Ulysses Jenkins, Jim Shaw, and Hye Sook.
